RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

These goals are best met in parish community life. Together as a Christian faith team of parish staff and family, we, by reason of our Baptism, can profess and bring to fulfillment the values and promises of the Kingdom of God.

THE ELEMENTARY AND JUNIOR HIGH RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM at Holy Redeemer is designed for students not attending a Catholic school. All catechists and catechesis is under the direction of the Office of Religious Education and the guidance of the Pastor. It is our expectation that all parish children are schooled in the Religious Education Program or Religious Education of Holy Redeemer School.

TRADITIONAL CLASSES are available for children who are 5 years old by August 1st through eighth grade, and are staffed by trained volunteer catechists, many of whom are professional classroom teachers. Each grade explores the four pillars of the Catholic faith: Creed, Sacraments, Morality, and Prayer, on an age appropriate level.

LITURGY OF THE WORD PROGRAM for ages 3 years old through 5th grade, is during the 9:30am Mass where students receive a blessing and are dismissed for class. Liturgy of The Word celebrates the readings and message of the Gospel on the level of each group. Selected activities are used to reinforce the message. The children rejoin their family during the Creed. This allows the opportunity to celebrate Mass as a family and with their parish community.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION ELEMENTARY PROGRAM for K through 8th grade. For students attending public schools, the parish offers a religious education program on Wednesday evenings (6:50-8:00pm) and Sunday mornings from 8:00am until 9:20am. There is an adult faith sharing gathering for school and religious education parents at 8:00am on Sunday mornings in the cafeteria. Parents are the first and foremost "teachers" in the faith formation of their children. We encourage your participation in the Religious Education Programs offered.

REACH -The High School Religious Program is Deanery based and held at the Daughters of Charity. The classes are held on three separate weekends throughout the year, a fall, winter, and spring format. The sessions are 9:00 am - 3:30 pm Saturday and Sunday. Mass is incorporated into the weekend for Sunday obligations.
